Welcome to Session Nine Photographers

We are Jason + Jessica Williams, and we are so stoked that you are here! We're a husband and wife international photography duo with a homebase in Scottsdale AZ. Using something as simple as a camera, we're able to share life and love, laughter and light, through fantastic friends that we meet along the way. We are constantly amazed that we have the opportunity to do this in life. If you dig what we're doing, then we'd love to share your story.

We used to talk and dream and laugh about this together. What it would look like, even how it would sound. After two years and a lot of collaboration with friends and creatives, we at last have something to show for all those days we spent working on this…

Ever since Session Nine Photographers was born, we have been brainstorming and envisioning around this idea of a creative film piece that we wanted to create to help express what it’s like to work with us. Something visual and dynamic that so when people would jump onto our website or blog, they would get a great feel right off the bat about who we are. We wanted it to be fun, full of life, artistic, and to represent the BOTH of us.

Our dear friend and artistic genius, Chris Loope, collaborated with us on this project and this dream for nearly two years. Finally, late in 2011, everything aligned right for us to begin filming at several different shoots and locations to make this happen. Chris worked his tail off. When this guy invests into a creative project, he is all heart, all in.

He absolutely nailed it on the head. What Chris put together with the footage we shot over four different days, two weddings, and two different states translated so incredibly well for us. Part of the reason is that we’re great friends with him.

This short video has been something we’ve been dreaming of and talking about for a very long time. We’re so proud to share it finally AND to say that it has completely surpassed ALL of our hopes and expectations. We had SO many people who put a lot of time and effort into helping us make this video possible. And for that, we are forever grateful. Check it out below, we are super proud of it and hope you’ll love it too.

Ok whoa. That has to be the longest we’ve ever gone NOT blogging. But these past few days since we left you last have been a complete WHIRLWIND.

SO much has been going on for us! First, we shot THREE  amazing weddings within the last week of March. All three of these couples have become dear friends of ours and to say we had a blast photographing their wedding would be a HUGE understatement. These weddings were fabulous and we can’t WAIT to show you more images, which are coming SOON.

Since we didn’t think we had enough to do during this same week, we decided to find a house, pack up, and MOVE all while we were in the middle of our three weddings week. True Williams style, if you ask us. BUT, we did manage to make it happen and we are happy to announce that we are getting settled into a HOUSE that is PERFECT for us. We love it here. Our boys are happier here. And choosing to make the move happen when we did was the best decision. We finally have an office, room to spread out and a BACKYARD. Which, if you have toddlers you know and understand how crucial that is.

And here come the Instagram photos to prove to you how stoked we are on our new place!

These are our boys running through our now office the day we got the keys. SPACE has never looked so amazing to us.

Our office as we started moving things in. We have a long way to go to make this the complete creative space we want it to be, but that’s fine with us!

And a little jam session in the hallway. I mean, what else?

We are pretty thrilled that we only have a FEW boxes left to unpack. And that we are able to spread out and have some room for a change. We can already feel the creative juices flowing. So now it’s time to get oober organized again and to rock it even harder than we have been. And it’s back to a more regular blog schedule. We don’t like being away that long!

We work pretty dang hard because we LOVE what we have the opportunity to do. But, it’s a good day when there’s some small affirmation that you’re headed in the right direction…

Last week we were absolutely stoked to receive an email letting us know that we had received the Editors’ Choice Award for 2012 by Two Bright Lights! Two Bright Lights is a fabulous online network that we use to help handle all of our publishing on blogs and in magazines. When we received the email about the award, we were blown away! It means that we are part of an exclusive group whose number of published features in 2011 has placed us among the top 5% of ALL Two Bright Lights members!

What an honor!

We LOVE using Two Bright Lights. It’s helped us make connections with SO many editors and partners within the industry we work in, keeps us organized, and maintains all of our projects to be published in one place.

Here’s a quick little blurb from TBL on their vision behind the Editors’ Choice Award…

Whoa. What an insanely awesome week. We couldn’t have packed more into seven days if we wanted to, but it sure was amazing.

If you follow us on Instagram, you’ve probably been seeing our journey through the week. We made sure to diligently snap images on our iPhones of all the different things we were doing, seeing and working on. Since things were SO crazy on our end, we didn’t always have a chance to have our professional cameras out with us. But the cameras they’ve been putting into these iPhones aren’t too shabby! So we were able to document the week and we want to share that here with you now.

We started the week by photographing John + Sarah’s amazing wedding at the Audubon Center in Phoenix last Sunday. I snapped this image on my phone really quick during their Romantics, but trust us. We have SO MANY MORE PHOTOS TO SHOW YOU.

Monday morning, we got up pretty early and headed out to Las Vegas, Nevada for the WPPI convention. And yes, we are the crazy people that bring our kids with us. So we packed up the car and set out for the adventure! My mom came with us too to help with the boys. We have a phenomenal support system that helps us take care of the boys so we can make our business a reality and my mom is the very first person we asked to come with us on this out of town venture.

SO, we had a great time. We visited the strip, heard some amazing speakers, walked around the tradeshow, ate great food AND we went to Airplanes and Blazers, which is a huge dance party for photographers that they put on at WPPI every year. It was a seriously rad party that night with some awesome friends. Here’s a few shots of our time in Vegas.

We got home on Wednesday afternoon and had enough time to do laundry and repack to head BACK out of town on Wednesday morning. We enjoyed being home for a day though. AND it included a visit to the doctors office because I THOUGHT Rider was getting croup again. He wasn’t. It was just a cold. Paying a doctor to tell me it was just a common cold was fun. (dripping sarcasm)

We got up Friday morning and headed out to Williams, AZ. Jason and I led worship together at Lost Canyon camp for Scottsdale Bible Church’s High School Ministry. AND we brought our boys again on this adventure. Our boys LOVE to travel, so they were so excited to go visit the mountains this time. My sister joined us this trip to help with the boys. Rad, right? We were grateful. It was an amazing weekend with the students of this youth group. We had a fabulous time and loved being up there.

THEN, we came HOME Saturday night. And by Saturday night I really mean Sunday morning because it was almost 2:00am by the time we pulled in. We put the boys into bed, straighened up the house, did a little bit of laundry, SLEPT a little bit and headed back out to go photograph another wedding! Jon + Roxy tied the knot in Gilbert, AZ on Sunday and we have been anxiously awaiting their wedding day! It was a gorgeous day and we have A LOT more images to share with you from their day too. But I snapped one for Instagram to share with you here.

It was a crazy busy weekend. We are exhausted BUT totally filled up with inspiration. We’ve met a lot of new people this week, watched two of our couples step into wedded bliss, tried new restaurants, didn’t sleep much and laughed harder than we have in awhile.

Total success in our books.

Our oldest son Cruz, LOVES Angry Birds. We can guarantee that he has no idea what it really is.

To him, they are called ‘Red Fishy Birds’ and he’s obsessed with ‘playing’ it on our iPhones. So we got him this stuffed animal for Valentine’s Day. Be still his heart, when he pulled the tissue paper out to find none other than, a RED FISHY BIRD.

Our kids rock.
