Welcome to Session Nine Photographers

We are Jason + Jessica Williams, and we are so stoked that you are here! We're a husband and wife international photography duo with a homebase in Scottsdale AZ. Using something as simple as a camera, we're able to share life and love, laughter and light, through fantastic friends that we meet along the way. We are constantly amazed that we have the opportunity to do this in life. If you dig what we're doing, then we'd love to share your story.

Sometimes, we just seriously take for granted how much FUN we actually have when photographing our clients.

It’s always awesome to look back on some of the shots WE make it into during our sessions and have a good laugh remembering exactly what was going on in the moment. Sometimes I forget that we sometimes unintentionally document what WE are doing behind the scenes a little bit too. We are pretty blessed to work together. It’s not always easy. We don’t always agree (imagine that!). BUT, it’s pretty rad that we get to spend our lives together doing what we love, meeting seriously cool people who are up for anything.

Be on the look out for more posts like these. We have plenty more photos from where these came from.

We used to talk and dream and laugh about this together. What it would look like, even how it would sound. After two years and a lot of collaboration with friends and creatives, we at last have something to show for all those days we spent working on this…

Ever since Session Nine Photographers was born, we have been brainstorming and envisioning around this idea of a creative film piece that we wanted to create to help express what it’s like to work with us. Something visual and dynamic that so when people would jump onto our website or blog, they would get a great feel right off the bat about who we are. We wanted it to be fun, full of life, artistic, and to represent the BOTH of us.

Our dear friend and artistic genius, Chris Loope, collaborated with us on this project and this dream for nearly two years. Finally, late in 2011, everything aligned right for us to begin filming at several different shoots and locations to make this happen. Chris worked his tail off. When this guy invests into a creative project, he is all heart, all in.

He absolutely nailed it on the head. What Chris put together with the footage we shot over four different days, two weddings, and two different states translated so incredibly well for us. Part of the reason is that we’re great friends with him.

This short video has been something we’ve been dreaming of and talking about for a very long time. We’re so proud to share it finally AND to say that it has completely surpassed ALL of our hopes and expectations. We had SO many people who put a lot of time and effort into helping us make this video possible. And for that, we are forever grateful. Check it out below, we are super proud of it and hope you’ll love it too.

There’s not many times AT ALL that we hand over our cameras while on location and allow ourselves to be photographed. See the image to the right? It’s the GROOM at one of our weddings.

The bridal party INSISTED that we be in a couple silly shots and while we were reluctant at first to hand over our cameras, we were stoked to jump in and have some fun! Plus, we trusted John, as he’s got a very good amount of knowledge when it comes to all things camera related. So we jumped in and let him take a couple of fun shots of us.

This all came at the tail end of a VERY fun time with our bride, groom, and their bridal party. And the good news? We will be revealing this wedding TOMORROW. So stay tuned!

We are running low on space these days. And dreaming big about what our new future and larger office is going to look like.

We haven’t found it yet, but we are on the hunt for a new home to move into with some larger living and office spaces for us. So where do we go for IMMEDIATE inspiration? Yep, Pinterest! We are going to get pretty creative with our newly found workspace, and we are hoping that it will reflect BOTH of us equally. Jason and I have such common interests and styles, BUT they are very different too. And we are excited to merge the two together to create a space where we are BOTH inspired daily.

Here’s a shot of my (Jess’s) dream office space. Clean, simple, pretty. I love the white and the pops of color.

Here’s a shot of Jay’s dream office space. Clean, modern, funky. He loves that you can open the wall here and bring the outside in.

While we aren’t sure we are going to find a home with removable walls, we ARE looking to incorporate some of these elements into our new space. So, moving is in our future! Hopefully within the same neighborhood that we are already in. We love it here and can’t wait to spread out a little more. We’ll keep you posted on our moving adventures, as they unfold!

* We found these images on Pinterest! It’s such a great source for inspiration.

We love our engagement story. We got engaged in January of 2003, and while it was nine years ago, it doesn’t seem like it’s been that long!

I (Jess) think back often about how we got engaged. We spend a lot of time listening to and working on other people’s engagement stories all the time. So it makes sense that I would reflect back on mine often. We got engaged on the evening of January 1, 2003. Disneyland has been one of our favorite spots ever since we met, so it’s pretty fun that we got engaged there. And since it was New Year’s Day, there was (seriously) no less than a thousand people watching a band that was playing outside that night.  Jason had arranged to pull me up on the stage in Downtown Disney and managed to propose to me in front of said one thousand people. YES. ONE THOUSAND. I wish I would have thought to get a snapshot of the crowd! There are LOTS of details that make this story quite hilarious, amazing, and ours. We’d love to tell you the entire thing if we’re ever in person some day. But for now, we’ll leave you with this special picture from when Jay asked ME to be his wife for the rest of his life. It’s such a great part of OUR story.
